Cirella Joins R.I. Rebels AAU Baseball Program
The former University of Rhode Island assistant coach and Salve Regina standout will lead the Rebels' U-17 college prospect baseball team.
Eric Cirella, a veteran assistant baseball coach at the University of Rhode Island, has joined the staff of the Rhode Islands Rebels, the area’s elite AAU travel baseball program.
The Rebels train out of the Bomb Squad Baseball Company in Wakefield.
Cirella, 29, will serve as the head coach of the Rebels’ 17 and under college prospect team. He will also head the hitting and field instruction programs out of the Bomb Squad.

“The Rhode Island Rebels is a prestigious baseball program. I am excited to be a part of such an elite organization that focuses on the development of college prospects,” Cirella said.
As the third base coach for the Rams since 2007, Cirella was an instrumental part of the Rams’ program that has qualified for the Atlantic 10 Tournament a league-record 10 consecutive years.

A former standout at North Kingstown High and Salve Regina University, Cirella was the NCAA’s leading in batting average (.504) and bases on balls (49) his senior year (2005) with the Seahawks. Cirella was inducted into the Salve Regina Hall of Fame in 2011.
He is a three-time Academic All-American, who earned the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American of the Year award in 2005. He also collected Rawlings/ABCA All-America accolades as both a shortstop and an outfielder for the Seahawks.
Cirella joins Steve Breitbach and Phil Davidson on the RI Rebels’ staff. Breitbach is a former long time assistant at the University of Rhode Island. Davidson is a former standout pitcher at North Carolina State, Rhode Island Gatorade Player of the Year and two-time All-Stater at Toll Gate High.
Davidson is the founder and director of the RI Rebels AAU program. In the last four years, more than 70 Rebels players have gone on to play at the college level. For more information about the RI Rebels, call (401) 284-0411.
About the Bomb Squad Baseball Company
The Bomb Squad Baseball Company, the area’s largest indoor baseball facility, opened its doors last fall. Located in the Palisades Mill Complex in Wakefield, the 13,000 square foot facility is the most expansive indoor playground for baseball and softball in the region. The Bomb Squad features eight batting cages, three pitching cages with five real compacted clay mounds, and an area to practice game-time situations.
