Strong Swimmer: 22-Year-Old Off Block Island Doesn't Need Water Rescue
The Coast Guard launched a rescue boat and helicopters. The man swam to shore on his own.

BLOCK ISLAND, RI— The Coast Guard said a 22-year-old man is safe after a search in waters off Block Island was called off Tuesday. The First District Northeast launched helicopters and a rescue boat to find him. But the man swam through waves eight to 10 feet high and managed to make it to shore.
ABC6 News reported the man went into the water after rough seas knocked him off a boat where he and some friends had been fishing. People on shore found him.
