Does the Town of Narragansett Have Double Standards?

A Business By Any Other Name Is Still A Business.

My Question Is This? There were some issues at the Boon Street Market that made the neighbors complain and even call the police. The Town and the Owners will now be working TOGETHER to prevent the issues at hand. The owners were not fined, NOR do I feel they should have been fined. All the patrons in the establishment and the workers were NOT fined for the disturbances, NOR do I feel they should have been fined. The owners will be working with the Town to preclude the issues at hand. Operating a rental is like a business. Using the Transitive Property in Mathematics: If a local business is not fined for issues that caused neighbors to speak out and call the police, and the business was not orange tagged, and there was no warning to the establishment that if this happens again the Town will shut down the business down for one year, then why does the Town want to fine the owner of a rental and ALL those that may be in the rental if a disturbance occurs in the rental or even outside the rental? Only the person or persons who may cause significant hardship in the rental to the neighbors should face significant fines and consequences. Why does the owner of a rental have to face a fine for a disturbance and a loss of not being able to rent for one year if a second disturbance is created at the rental, if the owner has not caused the disturbance in the rental? A Restaurant = Business, A Restaurant Is Not Find For Disturbances. A Rental = Business. Therefore, LOGIC 101. A Rental should be Treated the same way as a Restaurant as they are BOTH Businesses. If anyone has ever rented property, they should recognize there is NO guarantee the people you are renting from will be good tenants. I have had some renters trash my place, and I did NOT condone or have any control to stop the tenants from trashing my place. I feel if the Town pursues this new ordinance, the Town will face more litigation in my opinion, and most likely face costly lawsuits that the Town will lose. Can ANYONE explain the DOUBLE STANDARDS?
