SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI — Without community leaders, South Kingstown wouldn’t hum along nearly as smoothly as it does. We’d miss their contributions in big and small ways.

How do you know this community leader?
I initially met her while working on a South County Pride event and subsequently came to know her better when she ran for town council in South Kingstown. I have continued to follow her involvement in our community over the past five or six years.

What does this community leader do?
What doesn't Jess do? Jess works as a teacher in the Cranston school system, has a family (two children), and runs a day care program during the summer. In addition to all of this, Jess has been involved with the PTO of her children's school as well as being a big supporter of the town's soccer program. Add to all this, Jess is constantly on social media seeking to help those less fortunate - if someone is struggling due to illness or loss of employment, Jess is the first to step up to help out. If a family cannot afford bikes for their kids, Jess is out there seeking donations. Jess continues to do all this while supporting her husband who is battling cancer. She truly is a wonder woman.
Why do you believe the community leader should be recognized or honored?
For her unselfish contributions to the community and it's citizens as I've just described. Jess always puts others first.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the community hero?
She is probably one of the most compassionate and empathetic individuals I've ever met - and I've met a lot of amazing people over my career in human resources and executive coaching.
