Flooding Closes Several Streets In Narragansett And South Kingstown

Police say flooding on coastal roads is receding, but care is still needed when driving in Narragansett and South Kingstown.

NARRAGANSETT-SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI — Flooding caused by rain Tuesday into Wednesday has caused the closure of several roads in Narragansett and South Kingstown, according to local police departments.

Narragansett and South Kingstown police said the following roads are closed, as of Wednesday morning:

Narragansett

  • Boston Neck Road from the Dunes Club south to Ocean Road
  • Middlebridge Road at the bridge.

South Kingstown

  • Middlebridge Road is closed on both sides of the Narrow River
  • Matunuck Beach Road is closed at the Vanilla Bean.

"We have flooding in multiple areas," South Kingstown police said in a Facebook post. "Please do not attempt to drive through flooded areas. High tide was at 6:20 AM, and flooding on coastal roads is now receding. Drive carefully."

A flood warning is in effect for central Rhode Island until 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, and until Friday for the southwestern part of the state, according to the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency.
