Grand Jury Indicts Philbrick for Fatal Accident

According to a press release from the attorney general's office, Dean Philbrick, 46, has been indicted by a grand jury for a fatal drunken driving accident in February.

On May 18, the Washington County Grand Jury reported out an indictment charging Dean Philbrick with one count of DUI death resulting and driving to endanger death resulting.

It is alleged that on or about February 15, 2012, Philbrick, while driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, caused the death of the 23-year-old back seat passenger when he lost control of the vehicle, crossed into the opposite lane of travel and struck a telephone pole and a tree.  It is further alleged that Philbrick operated the motor vehicle recklessly, causing the death of the passenger.

The alleged incident took place in South Kingstown. The South Kingstown Police conducted the investigation.  Philbrick, who is released on $15,000 surety bail, is scheduled to be arraigned in Washington County Superior Court on June 4, 2012.
