High School Sports Schedule and Standings: May 16 to May 22, 2011

Wondering when your favorite team plays?

Curious about when a high school team is playing? Several Narragansett teams are still in contention this year. All dates and times are weather permitting, of course.

  • Baseball, varsity: 9-8, 8-6 Division II-South. The Mariners travel to Westerly (11-6, 9-6 Division II-South) for a game 7 p.m. today, host Providence Country Day (1-14, 1-14 Division II-South) at 4 p.m. Wednesday and travel to Newport to play Rogers (5-12, 4-11 Division II-South) at 6 p.m. Friday. The regular season for baseball ends when the Mariners host Classical (6-9, 6-8 Division II-Central) at 3:45 p.m. next Monday.
  • Baseball, junior varsity: 1-7, 1-7 Division I-South. The Mariners play their final game of the season 4 p.m. Tuesday at Prout. Three games remain unreported to the RIIL.
  • Golf: 2-9, 2-9 South Division. Narragansett travels to Richmond Country Club, the home course of Chariho, to face the Chargers (4-6, 4-6 South Division) and North Kingstown (10-3, 9-1 South Division) at 3:30 p.m. today. The Mariners end the regular season hosting the Prout School (9-2, 9-2 South Division) at Point Judith Country Club at 3 p.m. Thursday.
  • Lacrosse, boys’ varsity: 4-7, 4-7 Division III. Narragansett hosts East Providence (6-4, 6-4 Division III) at 3:45 p.m. today, followed by a 6 p.m. game Tuesday at Tiverton (1-8, 1-8 Division III). The Mariners then host Tiverton at 4 p.m. Friday. Narragansett ends the regular season with a non-league game against South Kingstown (10-3, 8-3 Division II-South) at Curtis Corner Middle School next Monday at 7 p.m.
  • Lacrosse, girls’ varsity: 7-4, 7-4 Division II-South. The Mariners travel to Westerly (3-6, 3-6 Division II-South) for a 7 p.m. game tonight, and host Middletown (8-4, 8-4 Division II-South) at 4 p.m. Wednesday. Their final regular season game is 5:30 p.m. Friday at Portsmouth (10-1, 10-1 Division II-South).
  • Softball: 6-6, 6-6 Division II-South. Narragansett hosts Rogers (1-10, 1-9 Division II-South) at 4 p.m. Tuesday, and then travel to Middletown for a 4 p.m. game against the Islanders (12-1, 11-0 Division II-South).
  • Tennis: 1-7-1, 1-7-1 Division III-South. Narragansett hosts Tiverton (4-4, 4-4 Division III-South) at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday and West Warwick (3-5, 3-5 Division III-South) at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday. The Mariners end the regular season by traveling to Gaudet Middle School to play Middletown (9-1, 9-1 Division III-South) at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
  • Track, boys’ varsity: 4-7-1, 4-7-1 Southern Division. The Mariners will compete in the Class C championship Saturday at Rogers High School in Newport. Events run all day, starting at 10 a.m. Also competing are Burrillville High School, Central Falls High School, Classical High School, East Greenwich High School, Exeter/West Greenwich High School, Middletown High School, Mount St. Charles Academy, Ponaganset High School, Rogers High School, Smithfield High School, St. Raphael Academy and the Prout School.
  • Track, girls’ varsity: 4-8, 4-8 Southern Division. Narragansett competes in the Class C championship Saturday at Ponaganset High School. Events run all day, starting at 10 a.m. Also competing are Burrillville and Ponaganset.
