High School Sports Schedule and Standings: May 9 to May 15, 2011

Curious about when a high school team is playing? Several Narragansett teams are still in contention this year. All dates and times are weather permitting, of course.

• Baseball, varsity: 8-6, 7-4 in Division II-South. Results from Friday’s game vs. Exeter-West Greenwich are unreported to the RIIL, but the Mariners lost 8-7 according to The Providence Journal. Narragansett plays 4 p.m. Tuesday at Prout (10-1, 10-1 Division II-South), hosts West Warwick (9-2, 9-2 Division II-South) at 3:45 p.m. Thursday, and travels to Mt. Hope (6-8, 5-8 Division II-South) for a game 2 p.m. Saturday.
• Baseball, junior varsity: 1-6, 1-6 Division I-South. Results from Thursday’s game at Rogers and Saturday’s game at Westerly are unavailable. The Mariners play at Ponaganset (6-4, 6-3 Division II-North) 4 p.m. today, and hosts Rogers (0-4) at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday.
• Golf, varsity: 1-4, 1-4 South Division. Results from a tournament scheduled for last Thursday are not yet posted. Narragansett plays at Coventry 3:30 p.m. today against the Oakers (3-1, 3-1 South Division) and South Kingstown (4-2, 4-2 South Division), and at Beaver River Country Club in Richmond at 2:30 p.m. Thursday against Exeter-West Greenwich (0-7, 0-7 South Division) and Westerly (2-3, 2-3 South Division).
• Lacrosse, boys’ varsity: 3-6, 3-4 Division III. Narragansett travels to Toll Gate (4-3, 4-3 Division III) for a game at 3:45 p.m.  Tuesday, and hosts Warwick Vets (5-2, 5-2 Division III) at 3:45 p.m. Thursday.
• Lacrosse, girls’ varsity: 7-3, 7-3 Division II-South. The Mariners play 5:30 p.m. today at Tiverton (6-0, 6-0 Division II-South).
• Softball, varsity: 3-6, 3-6 Division II-South. Narragansett hosts Classical (5-2, 5-2 Division II-East) at 5 p.m. today, hosts Portsmouth (6-3, 6-2 Division II-South) at 4 p.m. Wednesday, and travels to the Hank Soar Complex to play the St. Raphael Academy (0-9, 0-9 Division II-East) at 3:45 p.m. Thursday.
• Tennis, boys’ varsity: 1-7, 1-7 Division III-South. Narragansett hosts Mt. Hope (4-3, 4-3 Division III-South) at 4 p.m. today.
• Track, boys’ varsity: 4-7-1, 4-7-1 Southern Division. The Mariners compete in the Southern Division championships at Westerly High School 4 p.m. Tuesday. Also competing are Westerly, Chariho, Coventry, East Greenwich, Exeter-West Greenwich, North Kingstown, South Kingstown, the Prout School and West Warwick. At 10 a.m. Saturday, the Mariners compete against Classical (5-0, 5-0 Central Division) and Pilgrim (6-2, 6-2 Central Division) in Providence.
• Track, girls’ varsity: 4-8, 4-8 Southern Division. The girls’ team travels to North Kingstown for the Southern Division championships at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
