Hurricane Nate Could Bring Downpours Monday

The hurricane made landfall at the mouth of the Mississippi River and is expected to move north.

NARRAGANSETT, RI—The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Rhode Island for Sunday night into Monday. Although Hurricane Nate is expected to break up as it moves north, rain and downpours are still likely. Specifically, the report says, starting Sunday night, the "remnants of Nate may bring locally heavy rainfall leading to areas of urban and poor drainage flooding." Besides rain, the forecast also indicates "an isolated strong thunderstorm" is possible.

On Monday, watch for showers and a thunderstorm before 10 a.m. Then, there's a chance of showers and thunderstorms for the rest of the day with the wet weather becoming more likely after 5 p.m.
