If the Town Council Fails to Act, It Will Act to Fail.

The Town Council needs to take action on the property at 87 Narragansett Ave. owned by Town Council Member, Mr. James Durkin.

(Mold Growth Covered Over in one of the showers at 87 Narragansett Ave.)

If the Narragansett Town Council supports a rental in the condition at 87 Narragansett Ave that is owned by Mr. James Durkin, how can it enforce any rental that violates minimum housing standards in Narragansett? Are they worthy to stay in office if they FAIL to see the problems with this rental and ignore the situation? Some of the bedrooms at 87 Narragansett Ave appear to me and others to be built not according to code. If this is true, how can the Town of Narragansett go after any person who builds on their property without a proper permit and inspection if Mr. Durkin built the rooms without a building permit and the Town fails to enforce its building codes? In addition, if the Town feels the legal limit of occupancy was not violated in Mr. Durkin's so-called hotel, will the Town of Narragansett be able to go after those who violate occupancy ordinances? Would people have voted for Mr. James Durkin if they knew he had properties like the one at 87 Narragansett Ave? While the Town of Narragansett put up a Peace Pole yesterday, did the cultural exchange students at 87 Narragansett Ave. have Peace in their rental that was owned by Mr. James Durkin? Do the people of Eastward Look have Peace smelling the sewage treatment center throughout this past summer? Do families who have dorm style houses in their neighborhoods that are used for rentals have Peace in their neighborhoods? Some families are very sad there appears to be NO restraint on people building bigger and bigger houses next to their modest size houses for investment. Is it fair this Town Council wants to allow people to build bigger houses on any lot size that will potentially encroach on a neighbor's privacy? Developers like Mr. Durkin want more Piece, they want more and more Pieces of Narragansett to build bigger and bigger properties for investment. Please do not think your development is immune. A developer is probably scoping out your neighborhood and scooping up more and more vacant land to build, build, build regardless of the hardship to your neighborhood or the Town of Narragansett. Is it right our neighborhoods have to suffer due to developers taking over our Town? If the sewer system fails and we have fecal contamination in our water system, ocean, and fecal matter backup on our streets and possibly our backyards, will the Town Council blame it on the overdevelopment of Narragansett and its failure to regulate rentals, or will they blame it on not having a state-of-the-art sewer system? If you are against the direction this Town Council is taking us, please take the time out of your day and vote in the recall. If you fail to act when things are wrong, you act to fail.
