Kingston Free Library to Host 4-Part WWII Lecture Series

Dr. Stanley Carpenter will present four historical lectures Thursday nights in January.

Beginning Jan. 9 at 7 p.m., the Kingston Free Library, located at 2605 Kingstown Road, will host Dr. Stanley Carpenter, Professor at the Naval War College, to present a four-part lecture series on World War II.

Dr. Carpenter will kick off the lecture series Thursday night with "Blitzkrieg: Battles of Poland and France".
At 7 p.m. on each of the remaining Thursdays in January, he will return to the Library to entertain and educate his audience during the following lectures:

  • Thursday, Jan. 16: "Air and Sea: Battles of Britain and the Atlantic" 
  • Thursday, Jan. 23: "The Eastern Front: Barbarossa to Berlin, 1941-45" 
  • Thursday, Jan. 30 2014: "Crushing the Reich: Normandy to Berlin, 1944-45" 
"Dr. Carpenter is a fascinating speaker who eloquently brings history to life," said South Kingstown Public Library Reference Librarian MaryEllen Munroe.

The Lectures Series is free, but registration is required and can be done by calling (401) 783-8254, emailing mmunroe@skpl.org, or dropping by the Library.
