NARRAGANSETT, RI — A 59-year-old Narragansett man died after falling overboard on a fishing trip on Monday afternoon, according to the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management.

U.S. Coast Guard officials said they were called to Black Point, just north of Scarborough Beach, around 1 p.m. for a report of a man falling off his boat. Authorities said the man was alone and setting lobster traps from his small, fiberglass boat, when his arm got caught in a line, sending him overboard.

The boat's engine was running, and the vessel began spinning out of control, when the man went overboard, according to coast guard officials. The U.S. Coast Guard and DEM stabilized the boat, before towing it to a nearby pier.
