Narragansett Business Owner Accused Of Embezzling More Than $98K
State police say Exodus Construction co-owner Ann Marie Goddard misappropriated $98,075 from company accounts to use for personal expenses.
NARRAGANSETT, RI — The co-owner of a Narragansett home construction and design company was arrested Tuesday after Rhode Island State Police said she embezzled more than $98,000 from the firm.
Ann Marie Goddard, 54, of Charlestown, the co-owner of Exodus Construction, was charged with embezzlement and fraudulent conversion, unlawful appropriation, and obtaining money/property by false pretenses or impersonation.
State police said the arrest was the result of a months-long investigation into fraudulent and deceptive activities in a construction project her company was undertaking. According to state police, Goddard misappropriated $98,075 in from Exodus Construction bank accounts and transferred the money into her personal accounts. State police said Goddard used the money for non-business-related expenses.

Goddard was arraigned Wednesday at Washington County District Court in Wakefield. She was granted bail of $5,000 with surety, according to state police.
