Narragansett High School Earns Silver Honors On AP School Honor Roll

Narragansett High School earns silver honors for its advanced placement (AP) program in 2024.

NARRAGANSETT, RI — Narragansett High School earned silver honors for its advanced placement (AP) program in 2024, school officials said last week.

School officials said the acknowledgment highlights the school's commitment to expanding access to advanced coursework and supporting college readiness for all students.

Narragansett High School demonstrated strong performance across three essential categories that assess AP achievement and college readiness:

  • College Culture (Silver): 59 percent of the Class of 2024 participated in at least one AP course during their high school career. This reflects the school’s dedication to fostering a culture of academic rigor and preparing students for post-secondary success.
  • College Credit (Gold): 38 percent of students scored a 3 or higher on at least one AP Exam, demonstrating their ability to earn college credit while still in high school. This achievement emphasizes Narragansett High School’s focus on affordability and access to higher education.
  • College Optimization (Gold): 14 percent of the Class of 2024 completed five or more AP courses, including exams taken during their freshman and sophomore years, ensuring an optimal balance of coursework without overloading students in their junior and senior years.

"These accomplishments highlight our commitment to recruiting high-quality teachers, encouraging students to challenge themselves, and providing opportunities for all students to engage in rigorous coursework," Superintendent Peter Cummings said. "While there is still room for growth, this is a positive indicator of our progress, and I want to thank our administrators, faculty, and support staff for their ongoing dedication to the children of Narragansett."

In addition to this recognition, Narragansett School System has been ranked No. 1 in Rhode Island and among the top 3 percent nationally for having top-rated teachers by Niche, a leading platform for school rankings and reviews.
