Narragansett Man Charged In Head-On Crash Friday
One driver suffered serious injuries but is expected to survive. The other was charged with drunk driving.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI—South Kingstown police have charged a Narragansett man with drunk driving in connection with a head-on crash Friday night. The accident happened near 3570 South County Trail around 8:32 p.m. One driver suffered broken bones and went to Rhode Island Hospital with serious (but not life-threatening) injuries. His name is not being released. The other driver, Michael D. Tobin, 64, of Narragansett, was taken to South County Hospital as a precaution and released, police said.
Tobin was charged with Driving under the influence (resulting in serious bodily injury); and Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test, second offense. He was scheduled to be arraigned Saturday at police headquarters.
Both cars were "heavily damaged," police said. The South Kingstown Police Department Accident Reconstruction Division is investigating the crash. The Union Fire District, Kingston Fire District, Exeter Fire/Rescue, South Kingstown EMS, and the Richmond Police Department assisted at the accident scene.
