Narragansett Police Log: April 20 and 21, 2012

Police deal with five minor alcohol citations in four incidents with URI students.

Unless otherwise noted, information about the following incidents was supplied by the Narragansett Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Five URI Students Cited for Alcohol Violations

- Nicole E. Iannuccillo, 20, of 298 Boston Neck Road, Narragansett, was cited at about 9:45 p.m. on April 21 and charged with transportation of alcohol by a minor. Police said Iannuccillo is a student at the University of Rhode Island.

According to police, an officer patrolling traffic on Point Judith Road saw a grey Jeep Grand Cherokee with a dark tint on the rear license plate. A traffic stop was made near Burnside Avenue.

Police said that during the stop, a 12-pack of Rolling Rock beer could be seen on the back seat of the car. A check of Iannuccillo’s ID confirmed she was not 21, and she was cited. The beer was confiscated and destroyed.

- Brian P. McDevitt, 21, of 11 Melville Lane, Narragansett, was cited at about 10:18 p.m. on April 21 and charged with having an open container of alcohol. Police said McDevitt is a student at the University of Rhode Island.

According to police, an officer patrolling Glendale Road saw McDevitt drinking from a bottle of Sam Adams Summer Ale while walking on the road. The beer was confiscated, and McDevitt was cited for the violation.

- Joseph K. Smith, 18, of Barlow Hall at the University of Rhode Island, and Paulmicha B. Barrows, 20, of Bresler Hall at the University of Rhode Island, were cited at about 11:18 p.m. on April 21 and charged with possession of alcohol by a minor.

According to police, an officer patrolling on Kingston Lane saw two men – later identified as Barrows and Smith – taking cans out of the rear hatch of a car and putting them in their pockets.

Police said as they got closer to the two, one of them said, “Oh **** it’s the cops,” and tried to empty their pockets.

The two were cited for possession of alcohol by a minor. The beer, eight cans of Bud Light, was confiscated and destroyed.

Loud Party Broken Up on Bonnet Shores Road

Police received a report of a loud party at 26 Bonnet Shores Road at about 12:57 a.m. on April 21.

According to police, there were about 80 to 100 people at the party, with three to five cars illegally parked. Police said that party was cleared quickly with the help of the renters.

Police identified the tenants as Mark S. Freeman, 19, and 20-year-olds David L. Lager and Andrew T. Chambers.
