South Kingstown Man Arrested for Marijuana on Front Seat

Adam T. Silvia, 24, of 124 Bedford Drive, South Kingstown, was arrested at 2:06 a.m. on April 29 on a charge of possession of marijuana.

According to police, an officer on patrol on Old Point Judith Road saw Silvia’s car parked on the side of the road, with a large skid mark behind it. Police said as they approached the vehicle, Silvia suddenly sat up, as if he had been sleeping.

Police said while talking to Silvia, the smell of marijuana was overwhelming. Police noted that a bag of marijuana was also clearly viewable on the passenger seat, and Silvia was placed under arrest.

Loud Party Complaints

  • At about 4:30 p.m. on April 29, police received a complaint of a loud party on Johnston Street. According to police, officers responding saw that the party was actually at 10 Gardiner St., with about 125 people on a deck. Police said about 30 to 40 cars were illegally parked in the neighborhood. The tenants, URI students Andrew J. Mika and Charles X. McGill, 21, were noted as being cooperative by police. The owner was listed by police as Jack Revens.
  • At about 11:38 p.m. on April 29, police received a complaint of a loud party at 33 Angell Road. According to police, when they arrived they noted about 10 people on the front steps trying to gain entrance, and an additional 30 people inside. Police noted that the house already had a nuisance sticker on it. Police said the tenants – URI students Rosemarie K. Thomas, 20, and Lauren P. Hom and Caitlin O. Hill, 19 – were cooperative and cleared the house quickly. According to town records, the property is owned by Joseph M. Barrett.

No Arrests on April 28

Police reported no arrests on April 28, which is National Heroes Day in Barbados.
