At that point, police said they attempted to make a traffic stop. They noted that the car hit the right-hand curb, jerked back into the breakdown lane, and then finally went up on the curb right before Washington Trust Bank and stopped.
According to police, Thalmann smelled strongly of alcohol. Police noted an open bottle of wine on the passenger side of the car. When asked where she was, Thalmann allegedly told police, “Somewhere between North Kingstown and West Warwick.”
Police said Thalmann failed field sobriety tests, at which point she was arrested. According to police, Thalmann refused to submit to chemical tests at headquarters, and also had to be shown multiple times how to operate a telephone. She was arraigned and released at 10 a.m.
