Narragansett Police Log: May 4, 2012

Police deal with a domestic disturbance, and several college student arrests.

Narragansett Man Charged With Domestic Offenses

Jonathan D. Langlois, 33, of 10 Robinson St., Apt. #1, Narragansett, was arrested at about 2:05 a.m. on May 4 and charged with domestic assault and domestic disorderly conduct.

According to police, at about 1:55 a.m. a dispatcher received a call from a Robinson Street home with a child screaming in the background, “Stop hitting!”

Police said when they arrived, a woman was at the door calling out for help. Police noted that she had blood smeared on her face, and she was clutching her child.

The woman allegedly told police that she and Langlois had had an argument about playing his music too loudly while her child was trying to sleep. The woman told police that the argument became physical, with Langlois holding her down and punching her in the right eye and the side of the face.

Langlois allegedly told police that while he was taking a shower, the victim played a prank on him, which caused him to lose his temper and fight with her. Police noted that there was a bite mark on his left arm. Both parties told police that they had been drinking.

Based on the evidence at the scene, Langlois was charged with domestic simple assault and domestic disorderly conduct. He was also issued a no-contact order for the Robinson Street home. He was arraigned later that day at Fourth Division District Court.

URI Student Charged With Transportation of Alcohol by a Minor

Nathaniel D. Cole, 19, of 554 Sandy Point Ave., Portsmouth, was cited at about 10:01 p.m. on May 4 and charged with transportation of alcohol by a minor.

According to police, an officer driving on Point Judith Road near Clarke Road saw a black Volvo driving in front of him with a defective rear plate light. A traffic stop was made near Sunset Farm.

Police said that during the stop, they asked if there was anything illegal in the car, at which point the driver – Cole – told police that there was some beer by the 20-year-old man sitting in the passenger seat.

According to police, they confiscated four 16-ounce cans of Narragansett Lager. Cole was cited for transportation of alcohol by a minor, and the beer was disposed of.

Johnson and Wales Student Cited for Suspended License

Michael H. Pesanello, 24, of 10 Lynn Drive, Coventry, was cited at about 12:35 a.m. on May 4 and charged with driving with a suspended license. Police said Pesanello is a student at Johnson and Wales.

According to police, an officer on Point Judith Road saw a black SUV made a left-hand turn on to Sand Hill Cove Road while the traffic signal was red. A traffic stop was made in the parking lot of Charlie O’s.

Police said Pesanello – the driver – told them he was sorry for the offense, and that he and the passenger were on their way to Fat Jack’s for a pizza. A background check revealed that his license was suspended.

Pesanello was cited for the suspended license, and also issued a ticket for running a red light. The passenger had an active driver’s license, and he was allowed to drive the SUV from the scene.

Loud Parties

- At about 11:07 p.m. on May 4, police received a report of a loud party at 52 Exeter Boulevard.

According to police, about 30 to 35 people were at the party, with about five cars illegally parked. Police said the party was quickly cleared, and most of the patrons were over 21.

The tenants were identified as Scott E. Mullin and Adrian M. Savino, both 22.

- At about 11:37 p.m. on May 4, police received a report of a loud party at 18 Hope Lane.

According to police, about 40 to 60 people were at the party, with numerous cars parked illegally and pedestrians walking in the street. Police said the renters were able to clear the party quickly and cooperated with police.

The tenants were identified as 20-year-old Jared J. Adams, and 21-year-olds Jeffrey M. Ray, Branden D. Chicorka and David M. Gosselin.
