Obituary: Edward F. Collins, 93

Edward F. Collins, 93, of Wakefield, formerly of Warwick, passed away on Wednesday March 16, 2016 at Apple Rehab in Watch Hill. He was the beloved husband of the late Jennie C. (Abbate) Collins. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late James and Rose (Leyden) Collins.

Edward was first employed as an electrician at a shipyard. He then went on to work at the A & P warehouse in Providence before finally retiring from Sears after 20 years as an inventory control manager. He was an avid fan of all New England sports teams, and was a terrific bowler and a scratch golfer.

He is survived by his loving son Paul M. Collins and his wife Jo-Ann of Wakefield, Susan Collins and her late husband Joseph E. Collins, and the late Denise McDonough; cherished grandchildren Greg Seelenbrandt, Christopher Seelenbrandt, Joseph Collins, Jr., Erin Desmond, Michael Collins, Sara Ferraro, Jeffrey Collins and twelve great-grandchildren; dear brother James Collins, Jr., and was pre-deceased by five brothers and sisters.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory- SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck rd. (Rt. 1A) Narragansett on Tuesday at 8:45 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 128 High St., Wakefield. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich. VISITING HOURS will be held on Monday from 5 – 8 pm.
