SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI — Heads up, South Kingstown drivers: part of Wakefield's Main Street will close next week for tree work. The closure will start Tuesday.

While northbound traffic will be allowed to access local businesses in the area, a full road closure will be in place past the Glass Station to allow for a crane to be set up, the town said. Foot traffic will be directed to cross the street opposite Mews tavern by Rhode Island Department of Transportation workers.

Drivers headed south will be detoured right onto High Street, then left onto Highland Avenue, left onto Belmont Avenue and right to return to Main Street. Northbound drivers will be detoured left onto Wright Avenue, right onto Highland Avenue then left or right onto High Street. Two South Kingstown police officers will be stationed at the site during the closure.
