Rhode Island Campgrounds Open For The Season

Burlingame, Charlestown Breachway, Fishermen's Memorial and George Washington Memorial State Campgrounds opened for the season April 8.

NARRAGANSETT, RI — Spring has arrived in Rhode Island, bringing the promise of warm, summer days to come. Just in time for school vacation week, several of the state's campgrounds opened for the season Friday.

Visitors can now book camp sites at Burlingame, Charlestown Breachway, Fishermen’s Memorial and George Washington Memorial State Campgrounds, offering a unique way to experience the state's natural beauty. Just one site — East Beach — did not open Friday.

Campsites offer a variety of amenities, from tent sites to hookups for RVs and campers. Read more and book a reservation on the Department of Environmental Management's website.

The opening comes just one day before the start of trout fishing season in Rhode Islanders. Anglers aged 15 and older must have a valid 2022 license, as well as a trout conservation stamp to keep a trout or fish in a catch-and-release or fly-fishing only areas.
