Costume Parties

Newport: Children’s Halloween Dance Party & Costume Contest At Ballard Park: Saturday, Oct. 14

The dance, which starts at 1 p.m, will be held in the quarry meadow near the entrance at 21 Hazard Road. Wear sturdy shoes. Parking is available along Hazard Road.. At 2 p.m., the children line up for a parade and costume contest. Then, it's time for the 'Monster Mash Dance Off.'

Trails

The Wetlands trail inside Roger Williams Park is home to the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular. Click on the link for a preview of the family friendly event.

The Trail of Tricks and Treats in Riverside Park on Oct. 14 gives the youngsters a chance to do a little trick or treating, as well as face painting and pumpkin painting. Costumes are optional. The family friendly event is from 2 to 5 p.m. The Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council is the sponsor.

Haunted Hayrides

West Greenwich: Field of Screams opens Oct. 6. The haunted house and haunted hayrides are open from sunset on Thursdays through Sunday, plus a special Halloween night. Click here for details.

Beach Parties

Tiverton: Oct. 7 (Rain Date Oct. 8) 'Bridging Lanterns' at Grinnell's Beach from 6 to 8:30 p.m. A free, family friendly event. Show off your carved pumpkins on the sea wall and then dig into the s'mores.
