South County Hospital Ranked 5 Stars by Patients

The hospital scored highest in the state in a national survey.

South County Hospital received five stars out of a possible five in a federal patient survey of hospitals across the country.

Patients at about 5,000 hospitals across the country ranked their experiences Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey, which was conducted Jan. 1 to Dec. 31 of 2014. The results were released this month.

South County Hospital’s rankings were based the 45 percent of of the 1,785 surveys that were distributed to patients and were filled out. It was the only hospital to get a five-star rating.

Poor scores can result lower reimbursement rates from Medicare under the government’s value-based purchasing program, according to the survey.
