South Kingstown House Fire Leaves 1 Firefighter Injured

Union Fire District Chief of South Kingstown Chief Steven Pinch says the firefighter suffered burns to his legs.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI — A house in South Kingstown caught fire on Monday afternoon, and one firefighter was injured trying to extinguish it, Union Fire District Chief Steven Pinch said.

The fire started just before 1 p.m. at a home on Amos Street. Pinch said firefighters arrived within minutes and found heavy flames coming from the third floor. Pinch said everyone inside the home escaped before firefighters arrived.

Fire officials then struck a second alarm, leading to crews from Narragansett, North Kingstown, Richmond, Exeter, Hope Valley, and Charlestown coming to assist. According to Pinch, the crews had the fire extinguished quickly, but the house sustained significant damage.

One firefighter was taken to a local hospital with burns to his legs. He has since been released from the hospital. Pinch said no one else was injured during the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
