I will be voting NO on the Bond 4 Green Bond Initiative. While I support conservation and environmental programs, I oppose Offshore Wind. Why do we as residents have to support the infrastructure to bring in offshore wind farms in our state? These companies such as Revolution Wind and Orsted are multi-billion dollar companies. I oppose Offshore Wind as I feel they have the potentially cripple our fishing industry, harm our marine life, disrupt the sonar / navigation equipment of fishing vessels and helicopters, the turbines can literally fall apart and crash into the ocean as has occurred in Nantucket, the turbines can fail and be inoperable, the turbines also require oil to operate, so they are not free from toxins, and the manufacturing and disposal of the wind turbines after they end their useful life is not helpful to our environment. Wind turbines have an useful life expectancy of 20 years. In addition, with larger storms off the East Coast the failure of these turbines will most likely increase. In addition, our electricity bills have the potential to go up. Offshore Wind Turbines are also much more expensive than those built inland. Just say NO to Bond 4. The Green Bond Initiative will take your money (Greenbacks) from your wallet into these Multi-Billion Dollar companies.
