What A Day for a Parade (Hopefully)!

As long as Mother Nature cooperates, the annual South Kingstown Memorial Day parade is today.

The Town of South Kingstown is scheduled to host its annual Memorial Day parade today from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

If you’re participating, have fun! We’d also love to feature your pictures, so send them in to Narragansett@patch.com or Stephen.greenwell@patch.com, and they should be up on the site Tuesday morning.

If you’re watching or participating, you might want to bring an umbrella, just in case.

According to Weather.com, there is a 30 percent chance of rain for pretty much all of Monday, with a chance that the rain then turns into thunderstorms. Yikes. The humidity will also be between 70 and 100 percent for the day, which sounds uncomfortable.

Last year’s parade was also because of the risk of thunderstorms, so there is a historical precedent for it, unfortunately. The Neighborhood Guild will have updates about whether it is a go or not, so call them at (401) 789-9301 for updates.

The parade starts on Holley Street, and goes down Main Street and High Street before ending at Saugatucket Park. Obviously, driving will be limited in those areas.

Looking for other parades and events? Surprisingly enough, RIDOT has a full list. Locally, Westerly and North Kingstown are also having parades, if you want to mix things up. Narragansett traditionally has a couple marching groups in South Kingstown’s parade.
