4 People, 1 Cat Displaced By Christmas Eve Apartment Fire In Newport
All residents made it out of the fire without injury, but a cat was treated for smoke inhalation.
NEWPORT, RI — A fire at a multifamily home on Tuesday in Newport displaced four people and a cat, city fire officials said.
Firefighters were called to the three-story Green Street home around 2 p.m. When they arrived, they found smoke coming from the basement and sides of the apartment.
All residents made it out of the fire without injury, but a cat was treated for smoke inhalation.

According to fire officials, the fire started in the basement, and smoke spread to all three levels of the home. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
