Albury Brothers Delivers New Powerboat to Support Sail Newport

It's not often when a sponsor drives a brand new boat up on a trailer and leaves it with us," said Brad Read of Sail Newport.

NEWPORT, RI—Spectators at Sail Newport regattas come to see exciting racing boats. This year, they'll also see a spiffy new yellow workhorse ploughing the waves performing race duties and supporting on-the-water judges.

The new, 27-foot powerboat was built by Albury Brothers Boats and is a gift to Sail Newport.

"This is an incredibly generous gesture by our marine partners and sponsors," said Brad Read, executive director of Sail Newport. "It's not often when a sponsor drives a brand new boat up on a trailer and leaves it with us."

The vessel was built in West Palm Beach and incorporates Corecell structural foam donated by Gurit Corporation.

She's powered by two white Suzuki 250 horsepower outboards loaned to Sail Newport by American Suzuki Motor Corp. She'll also be hard to miss out on the water with her "Fightin Lady" yellow and white color scheme.

Other donations, covering the structural foam to the LED lighting, helped the boat become reality for Sail Newport, which will put her into continuous use in support of their extensive program.

Albury Brothers President Jeff Lichterman said that he and his employees were excited to have the opportunity to partner with Sail Newport.

"Sail Newport provides a incredible program and 27 can lend support and improve overall quality of the on-the-water race, and program management," he said.

The company recently opened a seasonal office at Newport Shipyard and Marina. They build sea-kindly center console outboard boats from 18.5 to 33 feet in Man O'War, Bahamas in addition to West Palm Beach.
