RHODE ISLAND — More snowflakes are in the forecast for Rhode Island on Monday, though little to no accumulation is expected.

Parts of the Ocean State saw its first snowflakes Friday evening, followed by more snow showers late Sunday morning. Like these, any snowfall seen Monday is expected to be very light, not even enough to coat the grass or sidewalks. Only the northern half of the state will likely see snow, with rain drizzle more likely south of Providence.

The National Weather Service initially expected higher snow totals along the northeast corridor of Massachusetts, with as much as 2 inches of accumulation in the original forecast. Later Sunday evening, the forecast was downgraded to just a coasting to about half an inch across the region.
