Driver Hits RIPTA Bus, Leaves Scene
The following incident was reported by the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Jamaal Mack, 22, of 257 Rogers Ln., Middletown was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly hit a parked RIPTA bus in Newport. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident. No injuries were reported.
Police said Mack allegedly hit the bus on the corner of Broadway and Friendship Street in Newport and kept driving. The bus had around 13 passengers on-board at the time of the accident, said police. A witness followed Mack to Enterprise Rent-a-Car in Middletown.

Police said they went to Enterprise and found the suspect car that had visible damage, including a broken passenger mirror. Mack allegedly said he was afraid he would be late for work and thought he could report the accident later.
