Families Will Pedal Together at Eliot Kaminitz Father's Day Ride Sunday
The annual Father's Day ride has become a yearly tradition for many Newport-area families to ride together and celebrate Kaminitz's life.

NEWPORT, RI—The Fourth Annual Elliot Kaminitz Father's Day Ride is this Sunday at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, bringing together families to enjoy spectacular cycling on Aquidneck Island and celebrate the life of the ride's namesake.
Kaminitz was an advocate for bike safety before he died and the proceeds from the event go to support programs offered by Bike Newport and the Newport County YMCA.
Three routes of 6, 10 and 25 miles provide an opportunity for anyone to take part. The shorter loop is protected with a Newport Police Department escort and is the first ocean ride for many, according to Bike Newport.

The 10-mile loop encompasses the full length of the south end of Aquidneck Island. And those wanting to go the full 25-mile distance soak up the ocean loop followed by a "scoot up to First Beach to pay respects at Elliot Kaminitz's memorial bike, then back down to Ocean Avenue for a second loop to join family or friends or wave on the pass by," a Bike Newport news release stated.
There's also a 2-mile Bay walk for people who'd rather walk than ride. It circumnavigates the Fort Adams site.
