Former Newport Cop Sentenced for Possessing Child Porn
Christopher Branco, 44, of 9 Mourning Dove Drive, Westport, who once worked for the Little Compton, Newport and other police departments, was sentenced after allegedly filming a relative.
A former Newport police officer was recently sentenced for possession of child pornography, reports EastBayRI.com.
Christopher Branco, 44, of 9 Mourning Dove Drive, Westport, who once worked for the Newport and Little Compton police departments, pleaded guilty Tuesday to possessing child pornography, according to EastBayRI.com.
He was sentenced to three years probation and must also register as a sex offender.
Branco allegedly filmed a young relative using the bathroom in his house. The film was discovered by his soon-to-be ex-wife.
The case was investigated by Westport police, where Branco began his police career. Branco later went on to work for the Newport Police Department and the Little Compton Police Department, where he worked from 2006 to 2011, according to EastBayRI.com.
Messages left with the Bristol County Attorney General's Office were not returned Friday.
