Herbert J. Aldous, 80: Retired Naval Education and Training Ctr. Auditor

Herbert J. Aldous, Sgt., USMC, (Ret.), 80, of Pine Street, Rehoboth, MA, died peacefully surrounded by his family, Monday, Aug. 5, 2013. He was the husband of Eleanor (Rosa) Aldous.
Born Nov. 22, 1932, in Waltham, MA, he was a son of the late Herbert and Jennie Mae (Messenger) Aldous.
Herbert was a Korean War veteran serving with US Marine Corps. He received a Purple Heart for wounds received during combat with the enemy losing his right leg. He was also the awarded the Korean Service Medal with bronze star.
He retired as an auditor after 23 years of service at the Naval Education and Training Center. Later he served as the Director of Veterans Affairs and the Veterans Agent with the Town of Rehoboth. He was a life member of both the Disabled American Veterans and AmVets. He was also a member and past president of the A17 Marine Corps Assn. and member and past president Rehoboth Baseball Assn.
In addition to his wife of 60 years, he leaves his children, Bonnie Kelley of Rehoboth, Lynn Macalister of Charlestown, Stephen Aldous of Glocester and Thomas Aldous of Pt. Charlotte, FL; 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
He was also the brother of the late Murray, Evelyn and Richard Aldous and Patricia Paul.
His funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Rebello Funeral Home and Crematory, 901 Broadway, East Providence. Burial with Military Honors will follow at the Rehoboth Village Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.
