Pay Hike Considered: The Newport City Council is scheduled to meet Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. to discuss a possible raise for City Manager Jane Howington, up to $140,000 [a $5,000 hike].
Scam Alert: There's apparently a new twist on the 'Grandma Scam,' according to Middletown Police. A caller recently claimed that they'd been in a car accident out of state, and asked the Aquidneck resident to wire $2,000.
