Man Tied to Portsmouth Girl's Disappearance Held Without Bail

A New Jersey man was ordered to be held without bail Tuesday in connection with the disappearance of a 13-year-old Portsmouth girl, who was later found in his apartment. 

Federal Magistrate Judge Lincoln Almond ordered Daniel Berger, 27, of Haskell, NJ, to be held without bail until a hearing on Aug. 7, reports Projo.com

Berger was arrested last week after authorities, including the FBI, discovered the missing Portsmouth teen in his New Jersey apartment.

The teen's disappearance on the morning of July 24 prompted Portsmouth and State Police to issue an Amber Alert. She was found in the pre-dawn hours on July 25 in Berger's apartment. 

The 27-year-old New Jersey man has been charged with transporting a minor with intent to engage in criminal, sexual activity, a felony. If convicted, Berger could face a sentence of 10 years to life.
