Both are battling Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and were diagnosed in the same week.

The school community has rallied around both, but today, the entire city is expected to step forward to show support and see if they can “be the match.”

The drive is today (Monday, Jan. 25) from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.

If you can’t make it, you can get tested at the Rhode Island Blood Center on Aquidneck Avenue: Tuesday and Thursday 12:30 to 7:30 pm, Wednesday 10:00 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday 8 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The test is a simple mouth swab. And even if you aren’t a match for Crowley or Martine, you will be adding more information to the database and could be a match for someone else.
