NEWPORT, RI—A scooter accident made the television news Tuesday morning, but there was no serious harm, according to the Newport Fire Department. A 31-year-old man was riding on Cummings Road and crashed as he rounded the corner at Malbone Road around 1:30 a.m. He was taken to the hospital to be checked out, deputy Chief Paul Faerber said.
