To come out of the cold in Newport , here is the list of temporary shelters.
NEWPORT, RI— The following places will provide temporary shelter for people who need to warm up. Here is the list from the state Emergency Management.
Donovan Manor: 19 Chapel St
- Mon - Fri: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM

- Mon - Fri: 9 AM - 4 PM
Florence Gray Community Center - Main Lobby: 1 Shimoda Way
- Mon - Fri: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Newport Public Library: 300 Spring St

- Mon: 12:30 PM - 9 PM
- Tues - Thurs: 9:30 AM - 9 PM
- Fri - Sat: 9:30 AM - 6 PM
- Sun: 1 PM - 5 PM
For overnight shelter, the City has two overnight shelters, the McKinney Shelter, which has six beds for women and 19 beds for men. Newport police say the people left out can go to the Police Station on Broadway for assistance.
