Bova, 7 Others Ahead In Newport Council At-Large Primary
Mayor Jamie Bova leads the pack of 12 Town Council at-large candidates with mail-in votes yet to be counted.

NEWPORT, RI — The preliminary results are in for the Newport Town Council at-large and Ward 3 races, and according to the Rhode Island Board of Elections, Jamie Bova leads a crowded field of 12 candidates, with mail-in votes yet to be counted.
If the results hold, the top eight candidates will move on to the general election on Nov. 3. Those eight candidates leading include:
- Jamie Bova
- Jeanne-Marie Napolitano
- Kevin Michaud
- Lynn Underwood Ceglie
- Susan Taylor
- Justin McLaughlin
- Elizabeth Fuerte
- Meagan Landry

Town Council at-large
- Jamie P. Bova – 668, 12.8 percent
- Justin S. McLaughlin – 452, 8.6 percent
- Derek W. Grinkin – 188. 3.6 percent
- Elizabeth Evans Cullen – 332, 6.4 percent
- Lynn Underwood Ceglie – 536, 10.3 percent
- Olga H. Enger – 239, 4.6 percent
- Jeanne-Marie Napolitano – 623, 11.9 percent
- Kevin Michaud –593, 11.3 percent
- Meagan E. Landry – 360, 6.9 percent
- Elizabeth Fuerte – 370, 7.1 percent
- William E. Kimes – 338, 6.5 percent
- Susan D. Taylor – 527, 10.1 percent
Voters in Ward 3 were also tasked with whittling the field down to two candidates for the general election. Kathryn Leonard and Paul Marshall had a commanding lead Tuesday night.

- Paul E. Marshall – 379, 58.5 percent
- Kathryn E. Leonard – 245, 37.8 percent
- Rachel S. Hussey – 24, 3.7 percent
