Bova, 7 Others Ahead In Newport Council At-Large Primary

NEWPORT, RI — The preliminary results are in for the Newport Town Council at-large and Ward 3 races, and according to the Rhode Island Board of Elections, Jamie Bova leads a crowded field of 12 candidates, with mail-in votes yet to be counted.

If the results hold, the top eight candidates will move on to the general election on Nov. 3. Those eight candidates leading include:

• Jeanne-Marie Napolitano
• Kevin Michaud
• Lynn Underwood Ceglie
• Susan Taylor
• Justin McLaughlin
• Elizabeth Fuerte
• Meagan Landry

• Jamie P. Bova – 668, 12.8 percent
• Justin S. McLaughlin – 452, 8.6 percent
• Derek W. Grinkin – 188. 3.6 percent
• Elizabeth Evans Cullen – 332, 6.4 percent
• Lynn Underwood Ceglie – 536, 10.3 percent
• Olga H. Enger – 239, 4.6 percent
• Jeanne-Marie Napolitano – 623, 11.9 percent
• Kevin Michaud –593, 11.3 percent
• Meagan E. Landry – 360, 6.9 percent
• Elizabeth Fuerte – 370, 7.1 percent
• William E. Kimes – 338, 6.5 percent
• Susan D. Taylor – 527, 10.1 percent

Voters in Ward 3 were also tasked with whittling the field down to two candidates for the general election. Kathryn Leonard and Paul Marshall had a commanding lead Tuesday night.
