Warwick Man Struck By 2 Cars And Killed After Running Into Road: Cops
The man was hit by one car after running into traffic and then another when he was down on the ground, police said.
WARWICK, RI — A Warwick man was hit by a car when he ran into traffic and then struck by another when he was down on the ground, police said.
Michael Dembkowski, 49, was killed after he was hit by the cars shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday on Centerville Road, the Warwick police said in a media release.

Dembrowski ran into Cenerville from a residence on the south side of the road and east of Bald Hill Road and into the path of an eastbound Subaru, according to the release.

"A witness in a car that had been traveling eastbound behind the Subaru immediately stopped and activated its hazard lights when a yellow Chevy Impala passed to the left of the witness vehicle and struck the (Dembrowski) who was still lying in the roadway," the release said. "A second witness, in a car that had been traveling eastbound behind the Chevy Impala, immediately stopped in the area of the first witness and activated their hazard lights preventing any further occurrence."

Dembrowski was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release.

"All vehicle operators are fully cooperating with the investigation," the release said. "At this time, speed and alcohol have been ruled out as contributing factors for the drivers."
