Newport Police Log: 911 Interruption, Obstruction and 2 Warrant Arrests
The following is based on reports from the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

William P. Manewich, 50, of Newport, was arrested around 4:40 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, for a domestic phone obstruction charge.
According to reports, a woman called 911 saying her husband was going to assault her and hung up. When police arrived, Manewich said they had just been arguing and there was no problem, reports said.
The woman told police Manewich had taken her cell phone while she was on the phone and hung up on the dispatcher.

Restraining order violation, obstruction
Robert E. Upchurch Sr., 68, of Providence, was arrested around 10:10 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, for violating a restraining order and obstructing an officer charges.

Police were dispatched to a Coddington Street home for a loud argument.
Upchurch was reportedly uncooperative with police, was evasive about whether or not he had a weapon on him and would not let police perform a search.
Warrant arrests
- Brielle M. Sheekey, 23, of 69 Connection St., Newport, was arrested around 7:47 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, for an active warrant for failure to appear in court.
- Damon C. Morris Jr., 22, of 26 Van Zandt Ave., Newport, was arrested around 9:50 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, for an active warrant for failure to appear in court.
