Newport Police Log: Man Charged with Assault and Threats; DUI Arrest

The following is based on reports from the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Jesus A. Baez, 28, of Bristol, was arrested around 6:05 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19, for violating a no contact order, domestic threats and two simple assault charges.

Police responded to a Maple Avenue residence for a reported no contact order violation. They issued a 24-hour pickup for Baez.

When officers located Baez, they placed him under arrest. He allegedly began resisting and kicked two police officers.

DUI Arrest 

Jay T. Foster IV, 25, of 172 Allston Ave., Middletown, was arrested around 1:51 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20, for a first-offense DUI charge.

Police pulled Foster over when he was seen speeding and changing lanes without signaling, reports said.

He failed the field sobriety test and was placed under arrest.
