Newport Police Make 5 Arrests Wednesday

The following arrests were reported by the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

The following arrests were reported by the Newport Police Department for Wednesday, June 12

  • Cheryl Pottinger, 30, of 160 Broad Street, Providence was cited for sleeping in public.   A neighbor called to complain that people sleep in the bushes in Storer Park every night.  

  • Stiven Perez, 18, Newport, was arrested around 12:10 p.m after a complaint was made he was trespassing at Festival Field Apartments.  He was charged with willful trespass.

  • Zeltite Kremane, 19, 304 Broadway Apt. #1E, was arrested around 7:45 p.m. on simple assault charge.  She allegedly ran up to a 17-year-old Middletown woman on Broadway and began to fight with her. Police said she knew the victim.

  • Kyle Schwartz, 22, 103 David Street, New Bedford, MA, was arrested 8 p.m. on a bench warrant out of superior court. Police said they saw Schwartz, a known drug dealer, in front of Festival Field Apartments.

  • Heather Allen, 31, 331 Spring Street Apt 1, was arrested  around 8:00 p.m. on a violation of a no contact order. 

  • James Lebelle, 40, of 15 Burnside Ave. Apt #3, was arrested around 2:25 p.m. because he was wanted out of the Westport Police Department for banking violations.
