Update Friday 10:22 a.m.The Newport Police Department continue to search the area around Cranston Street for weapons after shots were reportedly fired Thursday morning around 3:30 a.m. No injuries were reported."The search is going really well," Newport Police Lieutenant William Fitzgerald "We do have suspects, but no charges have been filed," he said.At 10:15 a.m. on Friday, a witness reported that a man threw a gun into the shrubs and is being chased by police with two dogs. Newport Police declined to comment if it is related to Thursday's shootings.   The matter is currently under investigation by the Newport Police Department.
