Newport School Calendar 2018-19: First Day Of School, Vacations

NEWPORT, RI — The first day of school in Newport is September 5 — and whether you and the kids are looking forward to the new school year or are dreading the end of summer, you’ll want to mark the date on your calendar ASAP. The Newport School District has released its 2018-2019 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

September

• 9/5: First Day of School (Grades 1-12)
• 9/7: First Full Day of School (Kindergarten)
• 9/12: No School (Election Day)

October

• 10/4: 90-Minute Early Release for Students
• 10/8: No School (Columbus Day)

November

• 11/12: No School (Veterans Day)
• 11/21: Early Release Day
• 11/22 - 11/23: No School (Thanksgiving Break)

December

• 12/5: Early Release Day for Students and RHS/Pell Parent Teacher Conferences
• 12/12: Early Release Day for Students and TMS Parent Teacher Conferences
• 12/24 - 12/31: No School (Holiday Recess)

January

• 1/1: No School (Holiday Recess)
• 1/10: 90-Minute Early Release for Students
• 1/21: No School (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)

February

• 2/18 - 2/19: No School (Presidents' Day and Winter Break)

March

• 3/6: Early Release for Students and TMS Parent Teacher Conferences
• 3/7: 90-Minute Early Release for Students
• 3/13: Early Release Day for Students and RHS/Pell Parent Teacher Conferences

April

• 4/15 - 4/19: No School (Spring Recess)

May

• 5/9: 90-Minute Early Release for Students
• 5/24: No School
• 5/27: No School (Memorial Day)

June

• 6/6: High School Graduation
