Newport Woman Arrested after Domestic Incident

Police said she threw a suitcase, broke an oar and assaulted the victim during an argument Tuesday night.

NEWPORT, RI—A 39-year-old Newport woman was charged for throwing items and hitting a man during an argument in her Shimoda Way residence Tuesday night.

Police said Kimberly A. Avallon, 39, 10 Shimoda Way, was charged with domestic disorderly conduct, domestic simple assault and domestic vandalism.

Police said the victim reported on Tuesday night that he had been assaulted earlier in the evening.

The victim said Avallon was upset with him over "past issues" and threw a suitcase, smashed an oar and grabbed and clawed him during the altercation.

The victim was not seriously hurt and said he and Avallon were in the process of finding separate living arrangements.

Avallon was held for arraignment Wednesday.
