Newport's Daffodil Days Return In April

The city will once again celebrate spring with a full slate of daffodil-related activities and events.

NEWPORT, RI — While Newport is famed for its summer visitors and beaches, Aquidneck Island in the springtime has plenty to offer. Every year, millions of daffodils burst out of the ground, carpeting the island in cheerful yellow blooms.

The city, self-proclaimed as the "Daffiest City in New England," celebrates each April with a slate of family friendly activities. This year's celebration will kick off with the Daffy Dressed Doggy "Paw-rade" on April 2, with prizes awarded to the best-dressed dos and humans.

The Daffodil Days celebration is now part of Newport in Bloom, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary. The non-profit organization, staffed entirely by volunteers, encourages Newport residents and businesses to get outside, get to know their neighbors and beautify their outdoor spaces.
