In another incident of violence, police broke up a large knife fight in the area of Heath Street at Pond Street Wednesday morning. Police said several people had blood on their shirt and a witness told police one man had a gun.  Police did not find a gun at that time.

Newport police said they are currently interviewing suspects and witnesses.  "I can not comment at this time because detectives are currently investigating the situation" said Newport Sergeant Frank Rosa.
