Rhode Island Is The Third-Most Vaccinated State In America

'Tis the season for tissues and hand sanitizer. But there's some good news for those paranoid about getting sick.

It seems like everywhere you go this time of year, you're dodging someone's sneeze or wiping down a railing before using it. If you're paranoid about picking up something nasty, WalletHub has some good news for you.

Rhode Island was named this week the third-most vaccinated state in America, according to a study by the personal finance website. The study was based on 18 metrics, many of which the Ocean State led.

Rhode Island has the highest rate of influenza vaccination for children 6 months to 17 years, highest share of teenagers 13-17 with up-to-date HPV vaccinations and highest share of teenagers 13-17 with men ACWY vaccination.

Overall, Rhode Island's immunization rates about children and teenagers was fifth in the country and 12th for adults.

Rhode Island was behind only No. 1 Massachusetts and Vermont among in WalletHub's rankings. North Dakota and New Hampshire rounded out the top five.

The least vaccinated states were Georgia, Florida, Texas and Mississippi.
